This month Grandmaster Loke visited the Ooi Taekwondo club in Mississauga Canada, founded by the late Master Hock-Lye Ooi, Grandmaster Loke’s childhood friend who sadly died earlier this year. Grandmaster Loke visited together with Master Loke and his grand daughter Rosemary. It was reassuring to see the club still being supported by Grandmaster Ooi’s wife Master Ting Ing Ooi and his daughters Tze Yonge and Tze Sun together with a large group of senior belts.

Just like in our club, many of the black belts have been with Grandmaster Ooi for twenty or thirty years and more. Some older instructors also attended to pay their respects and in memory of Grandmaster Ooi.
Grandmaster Loke taught class, and the students all demonstrated a high level of skill and enthusiasm together with humility and respect. After class the students took Grandmaster Loke and Master Loke out for dinner and shared memories of Grandmaster Ooi.
Grandmaster Ooi’s spirit, standards and legacy continue to live on. We look forward to continuing to visit and support Master Ting Ing and her daughters.
